The Power of God

The power of God is the faith to grow
the faith to cultivate and sow
Farmers and fisherman are his elite
To them he offers the honored seat.
Whose heavy hardened hands
lay folded 'neath the humble heart
their gratitude to give and pleas impart.

Each man he treats with equinimity
whether imperiled on land or sea
in patience hearkens to their plight
in heat of day or dispair of night
He is the final judge
his decisions just and fair
the wicked he will spurn, the righteous spare.

He inspires selfless charity,
and brings a moral clarity.
He teaches wisdom to the humble,
and watches lest they stumble.
He condems contention,
favoring righteousness and brotherhood,
like any good father would.

He is the motive of the martyr
the source of his heart stir;
whose faith born of strife
surpasses his need for life.
He enlarges our souls
with a spiritual leaven
light and love sent from heaven.
