Growing in Faith, a Personal Witness, by Robert Rosskopf

Faith comes by hearing the word. As my faith grew, I arrived at the point where I wanted to know the truth about religion. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, and gained a testimony from God that it is true. My faith grew. I learned that every blessing is predicated upon obedience to a commandment. I started keeping the commandments and found that I was indeed blessed. My faith grew again. I studied about the church and the modern prophets. I learned about the Holy Ghost, and how it was the right of every member to have the Holy Ghost as their constant
companion. I prayed until I felt the spirit, and then every time I lost the spirit, I prayed again until I found it. It blessed my life in amazing ways. It was like having a big brother that already knew how to do everything. My faith grew. Then I learned about the priesthood, and its authority to represent God. The Aaronic Priesthood had the power to call down an angel from heaven. The Melchizedek priesthood had the power to heal, bless, and command the very elements.   Special men were called as Patriarchs, and it was the right of every member to receive a patriarchal blessing. I was told to fast and pray for those things that I wanted from God for 24 hours before seeing the Patriarch. I didn't know him, and he didn't know me. He put his hands on my head, and after invoking his priesthood authority, began to grant me the desires of my heart. Only God knew what they were. My faith grew. I eventually became worthy to possess these two priesthoods, and had the opportunity to heal people of serious illness, and to tell people things about their life that I could not have known on my own. My faith grew. I'm as good as I am, because of my faith in a God who answers prayer, keeps his promises, and provides living prophets. I might have been born with a conscience and a tiny amount of faith, but my faith has grown. In some places, my faith has turned into a sure knowledge. I know there is a God, and that he loves us. I know that Jesus Christ is his son. I know that God is mindful of us and will answer our sincere prayers.
